Bein hazmanim started: Another rescue at Daraje

About half an hour ago, a rescue event came to an end, which involved a yeshiva boy, aged 18, who was with four friends on a hike at the Daraje stream, and suffered from the cold, after entering the water.

The rescue was completed successfully, when the boy and his four friends from Betar Illit, were rescued safely from the stream.

As recalled, yesterday six yeshiva students who traveled in Wadi Kelt and lost their way were rescued, and later pinpointing to their location was performed by a rescue team of Megillot area. Because of the location, the handling of the event was handed to the IDF which requested by means of the Shai District Police the unit's assistance in reaching the area and rescuing them.

The Megillot rescue unit summarizes one of the busiest months of rescues in recent years, with 21 rescues - including four which necessitated helicopters.

As of this week, the beginning of bein hazmanim, until after the Pesach break, the unit volunteers go into an alert state of 24/7 for the benefit of thousands of hikers expected to visit the region. The streams which are especially busy during this period are: Daraje River, which is filled with rare amounts of water, the Og Stream and Wadi Kelt.

The unit wish to remind the public of hikers that one has to abide to the Nature Reserves Authority inspectors, bring a supply of water, a cell phone, hat and walking shoes. It is recommended to update contacts of the expected entry and exit times from the rivers.
