Head of drug 'cartel': 22 Beitar Illit resident

27 were questioned in a complex drug affair involving youngsters from Haredi families too.

Israeli police received information about a young 22 year- old resident of Beitar Illit who moved to Jerusalem, who was involved in drug trade.

Last month an operation was carried out during which three suspects who bought drugs from him were caught with a cigarette containing a drug, along with the drug merchant and his 23-year-old partner, resident of Beit Shemesh.

At this stage of the investigation became open and an extensive investigation which involved many involved, some minor, some from Beitar and some from the Jerusalem area.

The investigation revealed that the suspect used to make drug deals through a taxi driver who purchased drugs for him from Jerusalem and from central Israel, in addition he activated a homeless minor to locate clients, mainly minors.

So far, 26 involved have been investigated, 27 investigation files have been opened with 17 offenses including drug dealing, brokerage and minor drug abuse. The dealer was arrested with a persecutor's declaration, his partners the taxi driver and minor who worked for him were arrested.

Tomorrow a hearing will be held at the Jerusalem Magistrates Court.
