Roshei Yeshivos decided: do not confront IDF

Last night (Wednesday), senior Roshei Yeshivos convened for a special conference discussing the report of yeshiva students at the recruitment centers, prior to the preliminary hearing which is going to take place at the home of Hagaon R' Aharon Leib Steinman.

The need for the discussion was in light of pressure from members of the Council of Torah Sages of Agudath Israel, led by the Rebbe of Vizhnitz who recommends students not to report for first order. This view of the Vizhnitzer Rebbe is shared by other Rebbes who are expected to join.

In the discussion it was recommended to continue the status quo and yeshiva students should continue to report to the recruitment centers.

Among the participants at the meeting in the home of Hagaon R' Yigal Rosen, Rosh Yeshiva of Or Israel, were Hagaon R' Dovid Cohen, Member of Council of Torah Sages of Degel HaTorah and Rosh Yeshiva in Hevron Givat Mordechai, Hagaon R' Boruch Weissbecker Rosh Yeshiva of Beis Matisyahu, Hagaon R' Moshe Hirsch Rosh Yeshiva of Slabodka and Hagaon R' Aviezer Piltz Rosh Yeshiva of Tushia - Tifrach.

Finally the Roshei Yeshivas decided that due to the cancellation of allocation centers for Haredim and the harm to youngsters in Prison Six one can continue to report.
