The machzir betshuva who became Rebbe at the age of 37

The passing of the Bitshkov Rebbe zt"l this morning (Sunday) shocked his hundreds of followers, who would travel to his Beit Midrash in Jaffa, the Rebbe in return would participate in their simchas like a father for a son.

In Jaffa the Rebbe was like a father to the secular citizens, even the Arab citizens who tried to harm the Rebbe and his Beit Midrash at first were overcome by his greatness and when he would pass in the street would kiss him.

The one who continued his custom during his lifetime was his son – Hrh"z Rabbi David Rosenbaum who gave shiurim at the Beit Midrash in Jaffa.

During the funeral which left the Beit Midrash in Jaffa the son was crowned as successor of his father by his uncle, the Kretchnif Rebbe.

The 37 year old Rabbi David Rosenbaum was born in Israel to his father the Rebbe Reb Zeideh Shmuel Shmelke Rosenbaum zt"l of Bitshkov and his mother Shoshana.

Rabbi David was named after his grandfather, the Rebbe David Moshe Rosenbaum of Kretchnif zt"l, and he was given the name David alone since his grandfather Rabbi Moshe Zvi Friedman, Rabbi of Jaffa was still alive at the time.

During his childhood he studied at the Tiferet Mordechei Talmud Torah of Nadvorna and later at the Sanz yeshiva and later at the Kochav Yaakov yeshiva of Chebin in Jerusalem. Even then his friends say his greatness was visible and his talents helped him give shiurim and bring Jews closer to their Father in heaven.

Following his yeshiva years he married his wife, daughter of Rabbi Reich, son in law of the Sanz Zemigrad Rebbe.

At one of the sheva brachos held, Rabbi Menachem Porush z"l said "who will give shiurim instead of Rabbi David in the evening".

After his marriage he began giving shiurim in Jaffa, Bnei Brak and Netanya and Rabbi David serves during the last years as Rabbi of the Beit Midrash Hamaor in Jaffa.

Every afternoon over 70 merchants gather together and come to listen to his daily shiur, those participants are in constant contact with Rabbi David and seek his advice at every question which arises.

Rabbi David is known for his greatness in Torah and is known as a kind and caring person very much liked by people, cares for needy families and does everything with modesty.

One of the Rebbe's zt"l Chassidim tells Behadrey Haredim "we should know that although the Rebbe was taken away from us, we have his son who will continue in his footsteps and can fill the large gap. During the last year the Rebbe returned to life after he was between life and death. Hashem gave us the Rebbe for another few months'.

Only yesterday the Rebbe zt"l held a large melave malka. We didn’t expect this.

Now Rabbi David will continue. All Jaffa's Jewry is due to the Rebbe and his successor.
