Unbelievable: Did parents 'iron' their baby?

Arrest of a member of the haredi community in Netivot was extended this morning (Sunday), on suspicion of abusing his infant son.

Barzilai Hospital last Friday passed a police report, about an 11 month old baby who was brought by his father when he suffered severe burns over different parts of his body.

Netivot station investigator went to the hospital and after initial questioning arrested the father and took him for questioning at Netivot station. The mother was also arrested and welfare authorities of Netivot claimed responsibility for two girl's age 10-11 that stayed at home.

According to police, the parents refused to cooperate with investigators, and they were taken last night (Saturday) to the Be'er Sheva Magistrate's Court, where the judge extended the detention until noon today.

Netivot station commander Chief Superintendent Meir Lankri said that this is a case of abuse to a helpless minor and that there are other investigative actions that implement them. Due to the fact that both parents were arrested welfare are involved to take care of the family.

This morning, the parents were brought again to the Be'er Sheva Magistrate's Court, where the judge decided to extend until tomorrow the father's arrest. Debate on the mother is still ongoing.
