Moses pleaded with Sa'ar: "Do not let hatred affect you"

Chairman of the United Torah Judaism faction attacked in the plenum the initiative to split Beit Shemesh, and asked the Minister of the Interior: help reduce tension in the city

Moses pleaded with Sa'ar: "Do not let hatred affect you"

Chairman of United Torah Judaism MK Menachem Eliezer Moses addressed the Knesset plenum regarding the further fanning the flames of hatred in Beit Shemesh, even after the decision on the elections and called for an end to incitement, and to ignore the handful of protesters to split the town.

As recalled, after the victory of the Haredi candidate in the elections held in the city last week, statements were heard from key activists and heads of municipal factions in the city to divide the city in half – a haredi city and a secular one. Among those who called to divide the city were also members of the Likud Central Committee, who wanted to influence the Minister of Interior to approve the division of the city.

"We have seen in Beit Shemesh," said Moses, "How the exclusion of Haredim builds walls of hatred. The vile attempt by the secular side which did not mince words and poured fire and brimstone on the haredi public, filtered and radiated hatred among much of the population of Beit Shemesh in general. The victory of the Haredi parties, primarily the mayor's victory, who was reviled par excellence, is also a great victory over the High Court and against factors of incitement of hatred of all kinds. Moshe Aboutbul, the elected mayor, called on all parties to join the management of the city, to bring to the lowering of the level of hatred, and bring continued prosperity and development of Beit Shemesh, this should fall on open ears."

Moses addressed to the interior minister who attended the plenary, asking him to not give in to the demands of ephemeral split in Beit Shemesh: "Mr. Interior Minister, you were first who said after the first elections in Beit Shemesh that you think all these attempts to invalidate the elections will not succeed,, and you were right in what you said. Now it is your duty to lower this tension between secular and Haredim. The mayor calls for everyone to come and join the coalition. He calls everyone to join him in collaboration and leaving sediments behind. Do not give a hand to those who call on 'dismemberment' of the. Do not let the sounds of protesters driven by hatred influence you. Those who protest for 'dismemberment' of the city, do not internalize the democratic choice of the majority of city residents. They are unable to let the flames of hatred fade. It is a small minority that tries to forcefully destroy the city. "

Moses concluded: "We must not let this precedent occur, for if that is the way, then tomorrow the call will rise to split Jerusalem into secular, Haredim and Arabs."
