Baruch Dayan Ha'emes: in Antwerp, Rabbi Raphael Feldman z"l, one of the prominent activists in Vizhnitz passed away suddenly last night on Shushan Purim, at the age of 65.
The deceased was born in Israel to his father Rabbi Yaakov Feldman, in his youth he studied in Manchester where he was known as a genius and enormous lamdan.
When he reached a marriageable age, he married the daughter of Rabbi Chaim Gottesfeld one of the prominent Viznitz Hassidim and establisher of institutions in Antwerp.
He used to give a Daf Hayomi lesson every day. About 37 years ago he fell ill and there was an immediate danger to his life, and in the midst of Shabbos he was flown to London where he underwent emergency surgery at Dr. Adler z"l, and survived.
As son in law of Rabbi Chaim Gottesfeld, he was one of the initiators and founders of the Talmud Torah Viznitz and was a member of the board.
A while ago he was not feeling well and was hospitalized but was discharged and continued with the delivery of the lesson every day at home.
Last Shabbos, he even davened in the Viznitz Beis Midrash and smiled at everyone.
He is survived by a 'dor yeshorim mevorach' - sons and sons in law, talmidei chachamim and was even zoche to enter into marriage with Shevel Halevi, Hgr"s Vozner shlita.
Many residents of the city of Antwerp escorted him on his final journey last night, together with the local rabbi, Hagaon R' Aharon Schiff, who was mourning his death. The coffin will arrive in Israel today.
May his soul be bound in the bond of life.
