Turkey, Georgia and Israel campaign to honor the dead

Zaka in a special operation to remove the body of a Jew from a Muslim cemetery.

Two weeks ago, a Turkish Jew turned to the country's chief rabbi, Rabbi Yitzhak Chaliba, and said that the 65 -year-old relative who lives in Tbilisi, capital of Georgia died. Muslim maid brought him to be buried in the Muslim cemetery in the city.

Rabbi Chaliba passed the turn to Shas MK Avraham Michaeli , a representative of the Georgian community , passed the turn to ZAKA Chairman Yehuda Meshi-Zahav .

For two weeks Zaka operated through Chabad emissary and Zaka commander in Georgia Rabbi Meir Kozlovsky , who managed to receive the necessary approvals , even though Georgia has a law that prohibits to remove the dead from the grave before a year has passed due to possible dissemination of infectious diseases. Rabbi Kozlowski required Georgian health Ministry to deposit a letter of commitment that, if claims for damages, it shall bear the responsibility.
Rabbi Yaakov Roza Rabbis Committee Chairman Zaka, said to take immediate action, and on Sunday the seventh of Adar, the day of the death of Moshe, went to Georgia a delegation of ZAKA volunteers from Israel: Mechle Gutwein, Chaim Weingarten, and Shimi Meshy Zahav.

The delegation took the body of the deceased from the Muslim cemetery, organized a minyan from the Jewish community and brought the deceased to be buried in the Jewish cemetery, with a request for forgiveness, lighting candles, saying Kel Melech Rachaman and tehillim for his soul. Rabbi Kozlowski took care of all the needs of members of the delegation, and Rabbi Chaliba took on the expenses.

This is how Jews from Israel, Turkey and Georgia were connected, to bring a man to Jewish burial in Israel.
