First Published: Call of the Council of Torah Sages of Agudath Israel in the U.S. and Rebbes towards the prayer rally in Manhattan on Sunday, is published here for the first time.
The delegation visited the Satmar Rebbe and after the Rebbe went over the call he wished to change a few sentences. Agudath Israel insisted on leaving it as is, and here a rift with Satmar was created, and it will not participate.
Behadrey Haredim brings the full text of the 'Kol Kore' in dispute.
Title: "The nation of Hashem, be strengthened and augmented and gather for a rally and awakening gathering for our holy Torah.
"It is a time of trouble and worry for Torah and its learners in the Land of Israel various people of power and politics have stood up who strive to undermine the virtue of our lives and soul of our nation – the learning of Torah in the holy yeshivos and kollelim, which are full to capacity with pleasant learners and dear avrechim who studiously learn Torah and rise in it, and from whom Torah will go out to all of Israel.
"And we are confronted with a real danger, G-d forbid, to disconnect and remove Torah scholars from the walls of the Beis Midrash in different ways of pressure and stress, and to pressurize their lives both materially and spiritually, to the point of arresting the Torah scholars in jail if they do not join the army, lo and behold.
"Our Jewish brethren! Are we allowed to bide at such trouble, for the Torah of G-d is our life and length of days, and is the main security of Israel, as Chazal have said (Makos 10) on the verse "Our feet stood within the gates of Jerusalem", who made our feet stand for war, the gates of Jerusalem who engaged in Torah, and the G-d fearing public here in America how would it pass over this in silence, while Torah in the Holy Land is under adversity."
"This prompted us to gather all together as one man with one heart with tens of thousands of Jews in the Holy Land who gathered together with their Rebbes for a huge event of prayer on Rosh Chodesh, and we here in America will pull our strength together this upcoming Sunday, the seventh of Adar II 5774, to express deep pain and feelings of anguish, anxiety and protest against this decree, to sanctify the Name of Heaven in prayer and supplication, and pour our prayer before the Giver of Torah on His nation and remnant of Torah in our days, that no obstacle or stumbling block should occur to it, and the nation living in Zion will be saved of any threat and persecution from within and outside, and all of Israel in the Diaspora, will add strength to Toras Hashem temima and increase and glorify the Torah until the coming of the Redeemer."
The letter is signed by the Agudah Council in the U.S., the Rebbes of Vizhnitz Monsey, Tzanz Kloiznberrg, Skvira, Bobov, Papa and Skolen.
The sentences which disturbed the Satmar Rebbe refer to the implication whereby Torah protects the State of Israel, which is completely contrary to the Satmar view.
