There is no unity for the rally in the U.S.: the Satmar Rebbe refused to date (Wednesday), to attend the protest gathering against the conscription law.
In recent days, contacts between officials of Agudath Israel activists and the Satmar Rebbe were held aiming at bringing to his agreement to participate in the large rally against conscription law on Sunday in Manhattan.
Last night activists came to the Rebbe's home in Kiryat Yoel and invited him to participate. The organizers indeed received words of encouragement by the Rebbe about the opposition to the law.
But the Rebbe asked to see the advertisements and advocacy materials to be published for the rally, and expressed his opposition to them.
According to him, the 'Kol Kore' published for the rally and other advocacy materials, 'suffer from a Zionistic tendency'. Organizers tried to arrive at an agreed wording, but they claim the short time available to them does not allow this, and the parties have not reached a compromise.
"We do not have the time," they say, "to go and re- sign Rebbes and Rabbis who signed already and change the text after the signing."
