Rabbi Druckman against rally: "shocking sentences'

Religious Zionism is divided regarding the rally: After religious Zionist rabbis called to participate in the rally, Rabbi Haim Druckman, a prominent religious Zionist rabbi. calls tonight (Saturday), not to take part in the million demonstration in Jerusalem tomorrow.

"I totally reject it. Whether this demonstration was to say that Israel is fighting against the rule of the Kingdom of Heaven, I am so shocked and outraged by it," said the rabbi to channel 2.

He added: "There is no room to participate in something like this, those calling for a demonstration and use shocking sentences, where we are living? Are we living in some dark regime fighting a religious war? Thank G-d we live in the State Israel even if I have criticism against the state."

Rabbi Druckman also talked with Channel 7 and said: "If the demonstration was for the strengthening of the Torah or against damage to Torah study, there would certainly be room to attend it, but the organizers claim that the demonstration is the 'Declaration of the government revolt against the kingdom of Heaven as they did in dark regimes' – the government of the state of Israel declared a revolt against the kingdom of heaven and a war against religion? It is ungrateful towards G-d who gave us our own country and we are not subject to the nations."

However, he added that everything must be done so that the conscription law will not harm the Torah world.

Meanwhile, chairman of the Rabbis organization Derech Emunah, Rabbi Baruch Efrati, who announced that he will arrive at the rally, retracted, as announced by 'Srugim' site, that being after on Shabbos he was approached by community members who criticized his decision and therefore he changed his mind.

So too, it was reported in Israel Hayom by Yehuda Schlesinger, that chairman of the Jewish Home Naftali Bennett told members of his party not to take part in the rally.

Bennett published a post on his Facebook page in which he wrote: "The Shaked Law is good for Israel." He also addressed the rally and said, "Tomorrow will be a big demonstration against the law to integrate haredim into employment and service," wrote Bennett, "The argument against the harm to the Torah world and "criminal sanctions" against Torah scholars set out, as it were, by the law. It has no basis: you will not find a trace of criminal sanctions in the law.

"Everyone, including those who is shouting because he has to shout, knows that no one who learns Torah will be sent to jail. Period."

Bennett also attacked in his words the measures of Yesh Atid, saying they were unnecessary along side the "graffiti posters" of Haredim that are unnecessary too.

"During the legislative two sides have made unnecessary noises: handing out of 'wet-ones' with anti-Haredi writing on the one hand, and posters of graffiti on the other. There is no room for that. The Shaked Committee will finish this week the preparation of this importat law for a vote, and in a short time we will advance the entire people of Israel," concluded Bennet.
