Temporal ruler to rabbi: "Only G-d guards the Ukraine"

Ukraine's Rabbi, Hagaon Yaakov Dov Bleich, vice president of the Conference of European Rabbis, was invited to a special meeting with the Parliament Speaker and Acting President Michael Tochinov, at the end of the Conference of Religions held in parliament.

During the meeting Rabbi Bleich expressed as Chief Rabbi of Ukraine the blessings and prayers of the Jews of Ukraine for the success of the sensistive role of the Vice-President on whom the heavy burden was imposed to restore peace and security to residents of the state.

Tochinov thanked Rabbi Bleich for the blessing, saying that indeed the return of security to residents of the state is the first and main target he undertook.

The Rabbi expressed concern of Jews of the Ukraine in view of the future and requested that police cars will be stationed near religious institutions. The President asked to pass on a message of reassurance that the authorities are doing everything to eradicate the anarchy that erupted in recent months.

Concluding his speech, the Vice-President asked Rabbi Bleich and the country's Jews to pray for his success in the sensitive role, and he said: "The one who watches over the Ukraine is G-d alone."
