In recent days, many wondered what 'magic' did the Satmar Rebbe use during the conversation that took place between him and the Ra'avad on Wednesday evening, following which the Ra'avad decided to withdraw his resignation from the Eida Haredis and return to its ranks.

Behadrey Haredim learned of the contents of the conversation and it is presented herein in full: at the beginning of the conversation, the Ra'avad complained to his visitor that recently they shed his blood and no one demands the offense:

"Actually, where I served as Av Beis Din they lingered, kept mum and did not rush to protect me from slander and detractors. They did not chirp even when they wrote against me words of scorn and derogatory phrases. How can I continue at a place which keeps silent at my defamation?" asked the Ra'avad with restrained pain.

"If the Eida's management does not disclaim and condemn the extremists," he added, "I'm not ready to go on! What was can not continue."

The Rebbe asked, "What are you afraid of? Of bulletin boards? Are you serious that that's what is bothering you?"

"I'm not afraid of notices on bulletin boards, but could not bear the insult and slander against me and the Eida Hareidis does not come out in my defense," responded the Ra'avad." "How long does this last?" the Rebbe inquired. "For a full year," replied the host.

"Well," the Rebbe replied dismissively, "for thirty-five years I go out every day and it almost never happens that I'm not stepping on a defamation written against me. But, I'm not looking back, not to the past, but to the future, this is the only way to succeed," the Rebbe tried to appease the Ra'avad.

"How can one get stronger and in what?" Wondered the Ra'avad. "While it is not easy, but you must continue to publish books, to issue Halachic answers and inquiries, to be immersed in the law of Torah and all areas of Torah with which you were busy throughout the years and thus, push aside all the rest. You should not get excited about any of those who think badly of you and it will not succeed."

At this point, the Ra'avad was tense and asked: "What you say to me now, this is a directive, or a blessing?"

The Rebbe paused for a few seconds, he thought lightly and then replied: "I give you both. Both a blessing and guidance." The two parted. Shortly thereafter, the Ra'avad called the Eida Haredis management and informed them that he is ready to return and renew as of old.

The Eida Hareidis were surprised at the move which ripened quickly and asked: "What are the conditions that your honor requires us to allow your return at the request of the Av Beis Din and members of BADATZ?"

"I do not demand anything. I am returning," Hagaon Rabbi Moshe informed the management of the Eida.

The Board members were quick to get come to his residence and drank a 'lechayim' with him on the occasion of the happy news. Just as they left his house, the Ra'avad rushed to call the Rebbe who was then celebrating the inauguration of the mikveh of Shomrei Hachomos, to tell him that he adopted the recommendation and that he is returning to the Eida Haredis, as in the old times. The Rebbe's face beamed with joy and he wished the Rosh Av Beis Din success and happiness in all his affairs.

Meanwhile, a guest at the Farshpil in Dushinsky last night (Motzaei Shabbos), on occasion of the marriage of the son of the Rebbe: Ra'avad the Eida Haredis Hagaon Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch, who was also honored to speak at the event.

"You should know that you have a Rebbe who is not afraid of anyone else," the Ra'avad complimented the Rebbe of Dushinsky and hinted at the last tumultuous period in which the Rebbe was criticized following the Golovenzitz affair.
