Miracles: Michael and Yitzchak Gross returned home • view

About a month after the poisoning incident , during which we experienced visible miracles, the brothers Rafael Yitzchak Izaak aged 5 and his older brother Chaim Michael Shlomo aged 7 were released today (Monday ) afternoon from the Schneider hospital.

Recall, on 21st Shevat, after the moth worms were discovered at the Gross family house, the parents summoned the exterminator Yosef Barkan , who used the material Phosphine - UN number 2199 . The family felt unwell and suffered nausea and vomiting, and subsequently contacted the Terem clinic in Jerusalem, but were dismissed and sent home. In the morning, the sisters Avigail and Yael a"h lost consciousness and died several hours later.

The boys, Rafael Yitzchak and Chaim Michael were also evacuated to Shaare Zedek Hospital in the city, but in better condition. After several hours, they were transferred to Schneider whilst connected to the ECMO machine, and since then the situation got better and better.

Since the beginning of the poisoning affair thousands followed after the situation of the surviving brothers who survived the tragedy with concern, and pray for their safety and healing. At first it seemed that their situation is critical, but they recovered slowly with help from the ECMO machines which provided a replacement of heart activity, and later and began to recover.

Since the brothers arrived at the heart intensive care unit at Schneider Children's when they are anesthetized and intubated and connected to vitro support systems, medical staff made heroic efforts to save their lives. A few days later, Rafael Yitzchak was successfully removed from the ECMO, and the next day his brother Michael was also disconnected and his heart returned to function without vitro support. Subsequent days, the children returned to recognition and began to breathe on their own, and an improvement in their condition, they were transferred to the hospital ward for further treatment. Today as stated, they were discharged. During the period of hospitalization at Schneider Children's hospital, the children were treated by the multidisciplinary team at the hospital, including doctors and nurses, psychologists and social workers, physical therapists, art therapists, medical clowns and more.

According to the children's father, Shimon Gross: " We are leaving Schneider today with mixed feelings of happiness and joy at the miracle G-d made us, we are returning back home with the two boys who are alive and well . On the other hand we are flooded with thoughts of sweet and pure Avigail and Yael. During the period of hospitalization we won a sense and feel of the big hug and warm heart of the people of Israel in the world. This gave us the power, strength and mental strength through this period. We saw the great unity and the effect of many prayers, and we are confident in the strong belief in influence for the better. We do not understand accounts of Heaven; we pray and hope that we will have the strength to continue the journey of life with joy and in the best and most beautiful. We thank the staffs at Schneider Children and staff at Shaare Zedek and appreciate their efforts and thank the people of Israel for their great support.

Professor Yosef Perez, director of Schneider Children, said: "Schneider Children is excited today especially with the release of the two brothers from the hospital. I am convinced that we managed to bring the recovery and the children are well again both because of the professionalism, knowledge and advanced technologies and due to co-operation between hospitals, collaboration between teams at the multidisciplinary center at Schneider, with humanity and sensitivity. From the first moments we were summoned to their aid the children of Jerusalem, the teams work day and night to save the lives. Like all Israeli citizens, we at Schneider felt joy mixed with sadness, strengthen the family in its hour of sadness and hope that you know no more sorrow. "

Meanwhile, police yesterday ended the investigation against the exterminator who left poison at the Gross family's apartment – Yosef Barkan, and the case was transferred to the district attorney after finding an evidentiary basis for indictment.
