Shock at Yeshivat Hebron: Yonathan Meller drowned

Tragedy today (Wednesday) afternoon took the life of Yoni Meller, a 22 year-old student from Hebron - Givat Mordechai Jerusalem, who drowned at Beit Zayit.

Deceased is a relative of the Gross couple, whose daughters passed away in the disaster in Jerusalem.

The funeral was held this evening at 23:00 at the Jerusalem community eulogy.

A B'Chadrei Charedim reporter came with the announcement to Hebron Yeshiva, where there is still a heavy shock. His friends struggled to digest the news. And tried to figure out how and why the tragedy occurred.

"He went out with some boys to take a break close to Jerusalem," say his friends," not for a trip , not to break the framework of the yeshiva . He did not go to North but made a little jump, which if he knows how it would end he wouldn’t have gone."

"Today at three thirty in the afternoon," they say, "Yoni called a yeshiva friend and asked him to bring him a little gemara , to learn from on the way ."

One of his closest friends says: " This may sound as Acharei Mot Kedoshim, but really he was one of the special of the bunch we cannot digest the news."

The yeshiva noted that the tragedy occurred within thirty days of the passing of Rabbi Yitzchak Halevi Landau zt"l yeshiva heads and the director of the Yeshiva Rabbi Shmuel Filmer, " a great tragedy and double painful ," they say.

A happy student

The deceased was born on 12th Sivan תשנ"א, to his parents Rabbi Yosef Meller and his mother Chemda (Glick) and lived in Givat Shaul neighborhood of Jerusalem.

The deceased is a graduate of the Maoz Chayil yeshiva. His learning partner who now learns at Mir Brachfeld told B'Chadrei Chared: He was loved by the Rabbis and sat and learned. He was always happy and made others happy. It is difficult to find such boys.
