Will yeshivas, led by Mir Yeshiva, disconnect from state budgets? Currently a foundation is being established to grant budgets to yeshivas who will disconnect from budgets of the authorities, as reported by Avraham Ferster on Radio Kol Chai.
However Mir Yeshiva officials denied the report and explained to Behadrey Haredim: "We wish such a fund would exist, but currently it is too early to tell, the situation is not clear."
According to the report a dinner held at the offices of the benefactor Rabbi Mordechai Forhand in Vienna, was attended by Rabbi Shmaryahu Yosef Finkel Mir-Brachfeld Yeshiva Manager and Shlomo Rosenstein of the heads of the Dirshu organization, for a final meeting to establish a fund of benefactors to support the ongoing budget at haredi yeshivas in Israel.
According to the plan, the heads of the fund will undertake to support a fixed monthly budget for every yeshiva committing to disengage completely from budgetary dependence on the state of Israel. The monthly support will be the same as the state budget before the cuts in 2013, support will even increase several times more.
Rabbi Finkel and Rosenstein went to Europe this morning on a whirlwind visit of 24 hours, when during the night the sides are expected to sign a binding memorandum of understanding.
The benefactors' venture is joined by more than a hundred haredi tycoons from Europe and the U.S.
