Terrible: an elderly woman burned to death in Brooklyn on Friday night

Tragedy in Brighton - Beach Brooklyn, an 86 year old woman was burnt to death, and her husband was badly burned in a fire that broke out in their apartment Saturday night .

Fire broke out on the second floor in an apartment house in Brighton - Beach in Brooklyn in the Gaimn home, about two o'clock last Saturday night. The elderly couple was deep in sleep when the fire broke out, despite the smoke detector which started operating automatically.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the fire, which broke out apparently as a result of overload and blew the fuse box of the apartment.

The fire spread throughout the building, and flames were seen from the windows, the neighbors heard the smoke detectors and were able to escape in time from the burning building.

A neighbor recalled the elderly couple who lives on the second floor of the building. The neighbor broke into the burning building and managed to bring out the elderly Mr. Gaimn, who refused to leave without his wife. When rescue forces tried to return to the building it was too late, it turned out that the ceiling in the bedroom where Mrs. Feige Gaimn slept collapsed by the fire, and Feige was burnt to death.
No less than 75 fire trucks arrived and tried to control the fire and prevent its spread to nearby buildings. Ambulances and rescue ambulances arrived and transferred seven injured to local hospitals.

Among the wounded was the husband of Mrs. Feige Gaimn who was badly burned all over his body, and two firefighters injured by smoke inhalation.

Members of Chesed Shel Emes organization came and negotiated with police to prevent desecration of the dead.

Her funeral will leave today (Sunday) at 13:10 from her home in Brighton - Beach.

The Gaimn family, officials familiar with the family reported, immigrated thirty years ago from Ukraine to the United States, and the family lived there until today.
