Gdolei Yisroel: disasters - because of lack of modesty

The disasters that struck in the haredi community in Israel in recent weeks, brought Gedolei Yisroel to post this morning (Tuesday) a letter in which they call to strengthen and increase lessons on the laws of tznius (modesty).

In a 'krias kodesh' advertised this morning in haredi dailies it says: "Regarding the awakening to strengthen issues of modesty and because it is one of the very main things, and Heaven forbid if there is no modesty it is written "veshav me'acharecha" which is the removal of the Schina, and unfortunately there is a big decline in part of the public even among observant Jews, and they fail and cause others to fail.

"It is therefore an important issue to establish classes of these laws (and as the bounds which the Beis Din Mishmeres Hatorah have determined) and to learn that there's a sin of causing others to sin, and blessed are those who warn and are careful with it."

Here the writers refer to recent disasters, "And especially in this period when many troubles have befallen us - indeed we did not come to say we know the reason why there is trouble - but it is certain that the more we strengthen, it could only be beneficial, that Hashem will remove His wrath."

The letter was signed with the blessing: "And we will merit to increase the holiness of Israel and we merit the true salvation with the coming of the redeemer."

The letter is signed by Hagaon R' Aharon Leib Steinman, Hgr"s Vosner, Hagaon R' Chaim Kanievsky and Hgr"n Karelitz.
