Mortal blow to the 'Lev Tahor' cult in Canada: Ontario Court judge ordered that the 14 children of families in the sect will be handed over to the social services in Quebec, who will place them with foster families.
Hereby, the Court approved the decision of the Quebec Youth Court on November which determined that three families of the cult must give their children to the welfare authorities due to allegations of physical and emotional abuse of children.
However, the children will remain for thirty days with their families in Chatham Kent to allow families to appeal the decision.
During the period welfare officials will carry out inspections to make sure the children will not be smuggled away from the area. If the appeal is not accepted, the children will be placed in foster families.
About two hundred families fled their homes in St. Agatha in Quebec to Ontario, after the decision of the juvenile court, although sect members claimed there was no connection between the escape to the legal process.
The court ruled that the children must return to welfare authorities in Quebec.
According to the sect leaders, the decisions against it stem from anti-Semitism and the "reason for the persecution of "Lev Tahor" are only the no-compromising Judaism of the community."
Sources connected to the cult say that because the scandalous decision according to the sect members, its leaders are exploring options for migration out of the country. "We can not remain in the country after such a criminal decision," they said."Save the Children"
With a last-minute attempt, a mother of children whose fate was sentenced in court, published an open letter today to the press in which she said that her children are "terrified".
The open letter published in the local media describes how her two little children of a year and four years old were forcibly taken from her and brought to a strange family.
"This is a difficult experience for the children and me." In the letter she begs to stop the "terrorist campaign" waged by the authorities.
"I can not imagine my children will again under the ordeal in which strangers will visit my home again to look for reasons to get them out the home," said the mother and called on the public to call the welfare authorities and try to make them have a little human feelings."
The media indicate that the two children were taken from the mother's custody following a surprise visit conducted by the welfare authorities to the family home, in which they found beatings and bruises on the faces and bodies of the children.
