Rubashkin's lawyers demand retrial

Sholom Rubashkin's lawyers filed a lawsuit weekend signed by 80 lawyers, which they require the existence of a retrial against the conflict of interests of the chief judge in the District Court Ms. Linda Reid who imposed the sentence of Rubashkin to ten years in federal prison.

Lawyers argue that the judge's husband was a partner at the law firm previously handled various matters for Rubashkin's business, so the judge was originally supposed to excuse herself from discussing the case. They say that judiciary even been in continuous contact with prosecutors during the trial.

It should be noted that in the past it has been demanded from the Association Judge to excuse herself from discussing the case, but the last refused.

Lawyers and family members of Rubashkin have high hopes in the request, submitted as stated at the end of last week, and hope that it will lead to the existence of a retrial.

Last week, the judge Linda Reed sentenced 41 months in prison for Hasam Amara , who served as the director of Chicken with " Agrifrossors Ltd." , a company and kosher meat processing plant in Postville Iowa City , USA . Amara was accused of having taken part in efforts for employment of workers who had forged documents, instructed those employees how to obtain such documents, and encouraged them to do so.
