Emerging: criminal investigation against Arbib

Commander Menashe Arbib will be questioned under caution subject to evidence provided by Harav Pinto's attorneys.

During a meeting between the State Attorney's office and the PID it was decided that soon Rabbi Yoshiahu Pinto's attorneys will be summoned to a meeting, which was delayed by two weeks, to discuss their demands.

Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein decided to open a criminal investigation against the head of the Lahav 433 police unit, Commander Menashe Arbib. However the investigation is conditional with cooperation of Harav Pinto lawyers who are supposed to provide evidence against Arbib who allegedly enjoyed benefits during his stay in the United States by associates of the rabbi.

According to the report, Rabbi Yoshiahu Pinto's lawyers, Eli Zohar and Roi Kar, are expected to meet with Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein.

The meeting will discuss the scope of cooperation in the case which will be contingent, it seems, with granting immunity to certain rabbi's confidants, in exchange for the in formation which his attorneys can provide against Arbib.
