Holland requires extradition of Orthodox teacher who hit children

Attorney General of the Netherlands filed today (Tuesday) a claim to Israel, to extradite an Orthodox Jew who escaped a year and a half ago from Amsterdam to Israel. This avrech 26 served as a teacher in cheder in Amsterdam, and was dismissed due to complaints of harm to children.

The scholar received a letter of dismissal stated that he was fired because of "inappropriate behavior (misconduct), reported the Telegraaf newspaper appearing in Amsterdam. Newspaper even claimed that the teacher is continuing education of children in Israel. Teacher's lawyer responded to the newspaper that his client denies the allegations and will oppose extradition.

It turns out that the phenomenon of child abuse has become a universal problem amongst Haredi communities. Last Friday, a few hours before Shabbat, the police came to the town of Square New York and stopped the veteran teacher Rabbi Moshe Menachem Taubenfeld , on charges of ongoing child abuse - abuse that lasted from 2001 to 2006 , according to a newspaper report , the Rockland County Times.
The newspaper said the investigation began only in 2013 when the boy's parents decided to break the "policy of silence" practiced amongst Sqaure Hasidism and other Orthodox communities across New York. Last Friday, after a long investigation, Taubenfeld was arrested and brought before a district judge , who agreed to release Taubenfeld with 25,000 dollar bail , pending trial be held in a month.

Arrest was received with mixed feelings in the town of Square since the arrest of veteran Hasidic teacher grabbed headlines in the local media, and of course caused a desecration. However, there were those who favored community custody. According to them, it is time to denounce the miserable educators of children for years with impunity. Even Taubenfeld's lawyer, Gerard Damiani, is denying the allegations against his client.
