Last week, Shomrei Emunim yard was filled with many visitors who came to console the Rebbe for his profound grief with the death of his daughter, Rebbetzin Sarah Goldstein A"H.

During the condolence visits of Rebbes and Rabbis, the Rebbe revealed the story behind the name of the deceased.

"The Shomrei Emunim dynasty founder, Rabbi Aharon Roth, grandfather of the Rebbe, had a sister named Sarah Shapiro A"H, who died childless.

"When the deceased was born - his father, k"k the Rebbe of Shomrei Emunim ztk"l, asked his son to give her the name 'Sarah' in the name of the aunt, who had died shortly beforehand.

"The father was concern since it is not customary to name a baby after a person who was childless. But his father the Rebbe reassured him that this baby, "will fill up the gap will raise the generation that her aunt was not privileged to have."

"Perhaps, after my late daughter was zoche and raised a blessed generation, she ended her role on earth and was taken back to the world from which her soul was etched," the Rebbe said with tears in his eyes.

Insults from the widow

The Rebbe also remarked about another aunt who died when she was young, his mother was named after her, the Rebbetzin of Shomrei Emunim, Mrs. Chaya Batya A"H, (daughter of Rabbi Mordechai of Zvihl zy"a, whose yartzeit will be this coming week) who died a few years ago.

"My grandfather, R' Shlomke of Zvihl zy"a, had a daughter named Batya Chaya. When his daughter fell ill, R' Shlomke wished to help her. He had a residence apartment in Jerusalem which was rented out to a widow. Since a very long time had passed and the woman did not pay her rent, my grandfather came to her house and demanded the debt which accumulated. The widow answered: 'How are you not ashamed to ask me for money, when I scarcely have bread to eat? Why do you not have pity me and are not thoughtful of my situation?' she asked in pain.

"More than that, the Rebbe did not need. He had already achieved the goal. The amount of insults and humiliations suffered were appropriate compensation. He was happy and knew that his daughter would be saved. "Thank G-d, I worked for her," he said to his acquaintances. And indeed she recovered and regained her strength.

Two years later, she became ill again. The Rebbe tried his luck again and went to the widow's home, to get the 'dose' which will hasten salvation.

To his disappointment, this time the widow apologized and asked for forgiveness: "Rebbe, I beg forgiveness, how I spoke out last time. It was not nice of me. I promise you that I'll save and pay you your debt." The face of the Rebbe crumpled and he began to cry. He realized that this time it had been decreed. Indeed, shortly thereafter, his daughter, who was a young woman, passed away. And my mother, may she rest in peace, was named after her", the Rebbe ended his story.
