Fire in Gaza: terrorist responsible for rocket liquidated

In a joint effort of the IDF and the General Security Service, a terror activist Ahmad Z'anin, 22, of the PFLP, was killed in northern Gaza.

At 00:30 Palestinians reported that an aircraft of the air force attacked a group of terrorists, at least two of them were killed, others were injured.

The IDF said that in recent days Z'anin was busy firing rockets at Israeli settlements and planning other trajectory firing attacks.

Ahmad Z'anin, resident of Beit Hanun, belonged to the Popular Front terrorist organization and was formerly active in the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Z'anin has been involved in recent years in a long line of rocket attacks into Israel and a large number of attempts to realize explosive device attacks, sniper fire and anti-tank fire at IDF forces operating in the Gaza Strip shell.

In addition, in recent weeks he has been involved in several shootings of rockets at settlements around Gaza, including the rocket fired last week at the Sycamore Ranch, during the funeral of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon z"l.

Since 2009, Z'anin promoted a number of attacks and rocket fire with local terror infrastructure in the Gaza Strip. In recent days Z'anin continued planning attacks of trajectory firing at Israel.

The IDF is apprehensive at all firing at Israeli territory and will continue to work strongly against any attempt to carry out terrorist activities. "The IDF is ready to defend the citizens of Israel," the statement said.
