Satisfaction of Hashomrim organization of Boro Park: on Friday, New York Court sentenced David Flores, who shot and wounded four members of 'Hashomrim', to 12 years in prison.
The incident occurred in 2010 when volunteers were called to one of the streets of Boro Park following a report of a person performing indecent acts.
The volunteers tried to capture the man, David Flores, in his thirties, but he pulled out a gun and shot one of the members of Hashomrim, who required a series of surgeries.
The shooter pleaded that he felt threatened, the volunteers tried to harm him and he fired to protect his life.
The judge was convinced and dismissed the charge of attempted murder but did not cancel the charge for carrying a weapon without a license.
After the acquittal of the non-Jew of assault, City Councilman David Greenfield sent a letter to the Justice and demanded the extraction penalty for Flores, accused of possessing weapons without a permit in a public place.
Greenfield reminded of the criminal past of Flores, who has been arrested 20 times, and on Friday the judge sentenced him to 12 years in prison, three years less than the maximum sentence.
Harav Yanki Daskal, CEO of Hashomrim Boro Park said on Friday in response, that is satisfied that the criminal will be punished, though it is not the maximum penalty. Daskal added: "There is a case against Flores in the New Jersey Court and there too punishment awaits him for additional years in prison."
