Thanks to a Christian paramedic, an Orthodox Jew merited a proper burial.
On Friday afternoon Meir Zalman Silverberg from Aberdeen, New Jersey passed away. A neighbor rushed to call an ambulance which came and determined the death of the man who was lonely without family.
Since he was not identified, it was decided to transfer him to the city morgue where those without family are taken, and they are held up for a month, if within a month no one comes to claim the dead the dead body is sent to Christian burial.
The ambulance crew was also a paramedic Michael Kokrsky who noticed that this is an Orthodox Jew, and decided to call his Orthodox friend who lives in nearby Lakewood.
Within half an hour has been burial society representatives of Lakewood reached the house of Silverberg, together with one of the synagogue worshipers where the deceased would pray and the body was transferred to the burial society.
A funeral was held on Motzei Shabbos which featured fifty synagogue worshipers who knew the deceased.
One eulogizer said that the deceased was well versed in Torah and used to correct the Baal Koreh during the reading of the Torah, without looking at the Chumash.
