Mediating between Netanyahu and Gedolei Yisroel started

Chairman of the Conference of Presidents of the United States, Malcolm (Yitzchak) Hoenlein, landed last night (Monday) in Israel to mediate between the Israeli government leaders and Gedolei Yisroel regarding the conscription law.

As revealed on Motzaei Shabbos in Behadrey Haredim, Hoenlein who wears a kippa and is close to Binyamin Netanyahu will try to mediate between the Israeli Prime Minister and Gedolei Yisreol during the week and a half in which he will stay in Israel.

Upon landing at Ben Gurion Airport, Hoenlein came to 5 Dover Shalom Street in Kiryat Belz in Jerusalem - the residence of the Belzer Rebbe, where he met with the Rebbe for a private conversation that lasted a long time.

Behadrey Haredim learned that the Belzer Rebbe gave Hoenlein a number of points to discuss with the Prime Minister. Tomorrow, Hoenlein is expected to meet with the prime minister and then come back with answers to the Belzer Rebbe.

During his visit, Hoenlein is expected to meet with other Gedolei Yisroel. He is expected to work with Shaked, trying to reach an understanding on the subject of sanctions imposed on non-enlisting yeshiva students.

As recalled, a meeting was held at the home of Menachem Gasheid between associates of the Prime Minister and rabbis Hagr"d Grossman and Hgr"s Rabinowitz. Malcolm spoke with participants at the meeting and promised that if the Council of Torah Sages' campaign will be canceled, he will come to Israel and try to help with his connections to reach understanding on the Law of enlistment.
