'Degel Hatorah' doubts: "Most bochurim obey orders"

Military Police presented today (Monday) the summary of activities in the past year , compared to what was done in the previous year.

Military Police presented the significant increase which occurred in the last year regarding evaders and deserters from military service who were handled by its people. During 2013, the number of draft dodgers from the IDF was 1985, an increase of 341 from the previous year. In the totaling the number of deserters in the past year - 2,873 there was also a leap of 262.

The data come from all sectors. These dodgers are those who did not report to centers, and the defectors are soldiers who did not return to base. These numbers are in stark contrast to reports of 38.5 percent of the boys who make up 7500.

Following the disclosure of the data, Benny Rabbinowitz, Spokesman of Hagaon R' Aharon Leib Steinman, says to Behadrey Haredim: "There was no need for evidence to know that the vast majority of yeshiva students tend to follow the instructions of Maranan Verabonan, members of the Council of Torah Sages of Degel HaTorah and Agudath Israel and the Council of Sages of Shas, as guided by Maran Rosh Hayeshiva shlita, and show up in the recruiting centers as yeshiva students have done throughout these years."

"The numbers released today even prove this clearly and unequivocally, and are compatible with a recently published document by the military advocate general. All yeshiva students who acted in accordance with the instructions, a single hair did not fall off their head. They were not recruited or arrested, and they continue to sit in the tent of Torah."
