Charred body in Bnei Brak: arrested suspect resident of city

In a special investigation by the Dan Region police team, a youngster from a haredi family in Bnei Brak was arrested last night (Tuesday) on suspicion of being involved in causing the death of the young resident of the city, 17.5 years old, also Haredi, who was found lifeless yesterday morning on the outskirts of the city.

The first suspect who was arrested as part of this case, an 18 year old resident of Bnei Brak, was brought to the Magistrate Court in Tel Aviv, where police will ask to extend his detention.

At the same time of the questioning, a hearing will be held this morning at the Tel Aviv Magistrate Court, regarding the request of the 17.5- year-old victim through the legal department of Zaka, to order the police not to operate their deceased son, and not to cause degradation of the dead.

"This is indeed suspicion of murder, which seems a case where the court would not accede to the request of the family," says Michael Gutwein, coordinator of the Legal Department of Zaka, "but there were precedents in which the Court ruled not to perform autopsy even in cases of murder, and settled for an external MRI test and at worst a local autopsy, supervised by a Rav."

The youngster was found in the early hours yesterday morning after missing since Saturday night.

A few hours after the searches began by phone update and assistance of Ichud Hatzala volunteers of the Dan Disitrict, the missing was found in an open ditch next to the Em Hamoshavot road, opposite Hatzvi Street in Kiryat Herzog, Bnei Brak, where the boy lives.

The boy, who had a small number of criminal files, was located charred and lifeless. The cause of death is under a gag order.

Police do not overrule any connection to various cases that occurred in the recent past in the city, including the stabbing of a yeshiva bochur three weeks ago and throwing of two Molotov cocktails at the yeshiva in which he learns, and other incidents.

Shooting on Hashomer Street
In another case, which has no connection to the present case, on Sunday night, 24 -year-old Yehuda Katlan, known to the police from property crime and drugs violations, was shot at the entrance to the city on Hashomer Street corner Avraham ben David. The anonymous fired 4 shots, but only two of them hit him, and fled the scene.

The pecial investigation team managed within hours to capture two suspects residents of the city, the arrest was made at Ben Gurion Airport, where they were carrying airline tickets to Spain.

The suspects, Shlomo Dahan, 25 years old, and Yoel Nissan 19 years old - residents of Bnei Brak, were brought yesterday to the Tel Aviv Magistrate Court, where Judge Shmuel Melamed extended their detention until Sunday.

Commander Shimon Lavi, commander of Dan District of the Israeli police, said talking to journalists, that there are incriminating evidence regarding the two suspects, and in the coming days indictments will be filed against them. He said the background to the stabbing is controlling the drug market and property.

The conflict between those involved apparently began several years ago when last year the conflict became violent and dangerous, and Katlan was stabbed in his limbs on Friday night underneath his parents' home in Bnei Brak, and was taken in fair condition and semi-conscious to Tel Hashomer Hospital.
