'Project Leiby': One hundred Brooklyn Security Cameras

One hundred security cameras will be installed in the coming week in Borough Park and Midwood, within the project "Leiby Kletzky," said New York Assemblyman Dov Hikind.

Hikind said that security cameras will be installed and operated by a private security company, sponsored by Agudath Yisrael of America, in cooperation with the police.

Security camera program was born after the kidnapping case of the child Leiby Kletzky in the neighborhood. And the cameras will help to combat the knockout phenomenon which spread through the ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods in Brooklyn, and the police cannot crush.

The first camera will be installed next Monday at the intersection Avenues 'G' and Coney Island, a major shopping area and busy.

"The cameras are the most sophisticated in the market," adds Hikind, "with four lenses. We have seen them in action and their photographs are very clear.

The project cost a million dollars granted by the authorities of Israel Association of America and supported by several senators, led by Dov Hikind, Simcha Felder and Senate Majority Leader Dean Sklus.
