On Malchei Yisrael in Jerusalem occurred this evening (Sunday) a car accident as a pedestrian 18 was injured and wounded. Hatzalah medics and Magen David Adom crew provided primary medical care to the victim, and he was evacuated to Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital in the city.
The driver hit a pedestrian, a student from a nearby yeshiva, fled from the scene, and was arrested in Kiryat Belz by traffic police car coming from Jerusalem. The driver returned to the scene of the accident, where he was interrogated.
Jerusalem police reported that the driver is a Jewish tourist from New York, who hit a 18 year old pedestrian from Bnei Brak. Jerusalem District traffic police officer chased the offending driver, caught him in his car and brought him back to the scene.
The wounded is in mild to moderate condition at Hadassah Ein Kerem.
