Following the exposure of U.S. espionage in Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said this morning (Sunday) that "we hope that circumstances will be created that will allow us to return Pollard home."

"I'm involved in releasing Pollard with all U.S. presidents, including President Obama, at all times, including this time," he revealed.

But stressed: "This is not conditioned and not related to recent events, although we have considered these developments."

As mentioned, it was exposed last weekend that Americans spied against lodges of the Prime Minister, defense ministers, Israeli institutions and even in the private home of former Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

Transportation Minister Israel Katz announced that he intends to propose at the Cabinet meeting that Israel should demand the immediate release of Pollard. "It is now an open secret. The U.S. systematically spies after Israel's political-security leadership. Pollard was arrested for much less than that," said Katz.

Even opposition leader MK Yitzchak Herzog, wrote today on his Facebook page that "Publications of the weekend and especially the discovery of the active surveillance carried out by the United States after the Israeli leadership for years, finally clarify one painful point: Jonathan Pollard's sentence has long crossed the zone of reasonableness."

"The reports base the claim that it is unjustified to continue to punish him. We basically see that the United States acted in many ways for monitoring and intelligence gathering towards a close ally such as Israel. During my last visit to Washington, I raised the issue of Jonathan Pollard and explained that regarding this issue there is no coalition and opposition in Israel. It is now clear to me that we have to act in the right and quiet channels to the end of the case and the quick release of Jonathan home, to the state of Israel", said Herzog.

Even former vice Secretary of Defense of the United States, Dr. Lawrence Korb, said the revelations about U.S. espionage require Pollard's release.
