Haredi public is faced with the threat of military service in Israel - abroad: While the Council of Torah Sages of Agudath Israel Admorim is busy organizing a campaign abroad, Satmar United States prepares a Bnei Torah Parade in Manhattan, New York.
As published in B'Chadrei Charedim this week was scheduled for demonstration in front of the Israeli embassy and the UN building. According to the original plan, thousands of vehicles driven by ultra-Orthodox Jews were to move slowly in midtown Manhattan, and carrying posters clarifying the meaning of the rally. Meanwhile, yeshiva students planned to divide information sheets to express the cry of Orthodox Jewry against Israeli rule.
But this week there was a change in the program: Due to logistical problems, the organizers sought to postpone the demonstration next week, but due to the Christian holidays to take place then, the police refused to accept the rejection and clarified functionaries that will be able to hold the demonstrations only at the end of the festivities.
Consequently, it was decided not to postpone the demonstration but to change its shape: a demonstration of vehicles was canceled and replaced by two thousand yeshiva students to march on foot with protest signs. Track abatement will commence soon and will march to the Israeli Embassy to the United Nations building. Demonstration will be held at the end of the business day, when masses of people leaving their offices and take to the streets on their way home.
It was decided to reduce the scope of the demonstration and cancel the participation of the yeshiva students: Just married students will be allowed to demonstrate.
Meanwhile, rescue committee for recruitment refugees, sponsored by Satmar, began receiving Israeli yeshiva students who have to study in the United States because of the threat of recruitment. With its establishment, the Committee announced that an Israeli who chooses to study in the United States to avoid conscription into the army, will receive substantial assistance, which will include a lodge, yeshiva registration, and satisfying all the needs to resolve the problem of induction.
