Prisoner of Bolivia managed to escape and returned home

Yaacov Ostreicher arrested in Bolivia, managed to break free and escape to a third country, from there he today (Monday), returned to his home in the United States.

Haredi businessman resident of Borough Park, Yaacov Ostreicher, was arrested in Bolivia while he was overseeing the project for growing rice fields in which he had invested.

After being held in jail for over a year, he was released to house arrest.

Since his release from prison in December, a number of Bolivian officials were arrested on charges of participation in the blackmail scheme against Ostreicher.

However, despite much evidence proving his innocence, Ostreicher continued to be held in a state of poor health and remained under house arrest for an indefinite period.

Rep. of New York, Dov Heiknd said he is "happy about the release of Ostreicher who is finally home."

City Councilman David Greenfield New York had weekly contact with Ostreicher said he spoke with him on Friday. During their conversation Ostreicher hinted his escape. "Ostreicher sounded very nervous," says Greenfield, and said, 'Things happen.'
