Baruch Dayan Ha'emes: a little while ago (Monday) Hagaon Rabbi Binyamin Ze'ev Bazri, rabbi of the haredi community in Beer Sheva and head of Yeshivat Beit Yosef in the city, passed away after being admitted to the Soroka Hospital in Beersheba in a very difficult condition, and returned his soul to its Creator at the age of 57.

During the night Hagr"b zt"l suddenly felt unwell and was rushed to hospital in serious condition. The Rabbi was sedated and on a respirator, and in yeshiva halls and synagogues in the city of Be'er Sheva many gathered to pray and cry for his recovery. As a result of his condition, it was decided to add the name Raphael, but as mentioned, "nitzchu arelim es hametzukim venishba aron hakodesh".

Hagr"b zt"l was born in Jerusalem on the 3rd Iyar 5715, to his father Rabbi Sasson Bazri, who was the great-grandson of the sister of the Ben Ish Chai, and to his mother Mrs. Ahuva. He was also the grandson of the kabbalist Rabbi Yehudah Petaya zt"l. His uncle is the Kabbalist Rabbi David Bazri from Jerusalem.

When young, he studied at Yeshivas Kol Torah. Later he was very active in outreach, and opened a yeshiva for ba'alei tshuva and a midrasha for girls in Beer Sheva. He served as head of the Torah Center "Beit Yosef" in the city, which includes yeshivas, Batei Midrash and Kollelim.

He was known as one of the greatest outreach people in general and in particular the city of Be'er Sheva, and he became very famous thanks to the huge Selichot event held every year on Erev Yom Kippur, in which around 18 thousand people participated.

He established Torah in Be'er Sheva, and many owe him their lives spiritually and physically.

He brought hundreds to Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, every Rosh Hashanah he would come to Uman, Ukraine with hundreds of students, where he gave the central shiur in the Sephardi Kloiz on Rosh Hashanah.

He is survived by a blessed generation: Twelve children and dozens of descendants who continue in his path. His wife Nusa Rachel A"H died in the last six months.

The funeral will take place today at 16:00 PM in Beer Sheva, and will leave from his yeshiva hall in the city.

May his soul be bound in the bond of life.
