Settlement agreement will provide extra compensation to the families of Gush Katif evacuees

600 families evacuated from Gush Katif during the disengagement plan, will receive additional compensation of tens of thousands. This was agreed in a compromise agreement which was signed in recent days between the administration impetus Ministry of Housing and a group of families, individual assessment conducted their case for their home was destroyed. The agreement was approved by the Supreme Court and accepted the validity of judgment.

The settlement agreement has been reached within the framework of application for leave to appeal filed by over 220 families of Gush Katif evacuees, the decision of the Eligibility Committee under the law implementing the disengagement plan.

The agreement provides that the state will provide extra compensation for 600 families evacuated from Gush Katif during the disengagement plan, which, as noted above for individual assessment destroyed their home. Extra compensation will be given to about 80% of the individual assessments, and will amount to several thousands of shekels per family.

The addition will be awarded after the recalculation of the value of individual claims by the eligibility committee, in accordance with the formula proposed in the agreement. Clarified that the additional compensation will not be given immediately, but is contingent upon the family will move to a permanent home and turn the temporary site.

The state agreed that the agreement shall also have individual assessments which were not parties to the appeal and those defined in the agreement as "commendable". "State considers the agreement signed is an important step and a real achievement for the entire public evacuation sites and temporary residents will move to permanent homes."
