Coming soon: a new residential focus for Satmar Hasidim U.S. - Bloomingberg.
Initiator to build the new project, is the Satmar Rebbe, and under his orders began construction in Bloomingberg, New York, with the aim of: affordable apartments for Satmar Hasidim, given the housing shortage. The name for the new neighborhood is Yetev Lev.
The message was made by the Satmar Rebbe on the day of rescue of the Rebbe, Yoel Moshe of Satmar zt"l, held each Kislev, in the presence of thousands of his followers.
The Rebbe extended on the housing shortage – in which many Satmar Hasidim are part of. "Every year about 300 students are getting married, and they have nowhere to live. We decided to copy the successful model of the new ultra-Orthodox communities in Israel, and to build a new campus. Within a few months there will be 300 apartments ready. Of course, "added the Rebbe, "The new campus will have all the needs for the community – with absolute elegance."
Indeed, in the last couple of months developers have already started to build the campus in New York, located just an hour and a half from the city of Williamsburg, home of the majority of Satmar Hasidim U.S. According to plan, the first tenants will inhabit the homes already in Adar.
