On Hashomer Street corner Rabbi Akiva in Bnei Brak, a violent melee broke last night (Friday night) violent between young yeshiva students and marginal youth, during which a yeshiva bochur was stabbed.
The incident occurred at 21:20, after the Shabbos meal, when the yeshiva students went for a walk down the street and encountered a number of fringe boys.
A verbal conflict arose between the parties which deteriorated to physical violence, and a yeshiva bochur of about 16 was stabbed in his lower abdomen.
Yossi Yimpel, Ichud Hatzalah - Bnei Brak paramedic, who was in a nearby building, was called to the scene and delivered primary care to the young man. He was then taken, fully conscious when in moderate condition, to the Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva.
"He said a group of 'Shababnikim' came towards them," Yimpel said, "One of them took out something sharp and stabbed him, he tried to walk toward the emergency clinic, but felt very bad, and his friends asked neighbors to call the rescue forces."
Menachem Indig, paramedic in Hatzala Gush Dan, who treated the casualty, said: "We have given medical care to the injured who is fully conscious, then evacuated him by Mobile Intensive Care Unit to the hospital, his condition is defined as mild to moderate."
Tel Aviv police said that according to the investigation there was no previous acquaintance between the stabber and the stabbed. The perpetrator was not caught yet and circumstances of the incident are still being investigated.
