London excited • Rebbe Vizhnitz on last candle

Thousands of Londoners attended last night (Wednesday), the lighting of Chanukah candles by the Vizhnitzer Rebbe.

Crowds flocked to the huge tent which was installed a few days ago, adjacent to the Vizhnitz Talmud Torah in Stamford Hill, London, in honor of the Rebbe's visit.

Already a long while before the lighting event, thousands of residents flocked to the event, which was also attended by Rabbis of London led by the Av Beis Din Hagaon Rabbi Ephraim Padwa.

The Rebbe lit the last candle wearing the "kolfik" according to the tradition of his ancestors, and raised the flame to the sound of singing of Chassidim.

The thousands then passed to receive Chanukah Gelt from the Rebbe.

And tomorrow?

The Rebbe landed in London yesterday afternoon, and was greeted by hundreds of children of the Hasiddus.

The Rebbe is staying at the home of the rabbinical benefactor of Vizhnitz, Rabbi Chaim Moshe Feldman. The Rosh Chodesh seudah was held for the Rebbe at the home of the son, Rabbi Zushe Feldman.

Tomorrow, Thursday, the Rebbe will conduct a Tisch for the occasion of Zos Hanukkah in the tent. A Shabbos of unity will also be held there for all Vizhnitz Hassidim from Europe who will arrive to spend Shabbos with the Rebbe.

On Sunday the occasion of laying the cornerstone of the expansion of the Beis Midrash Vizhnitz, donated by Rabbi Feldman, is planned. The Rebbe is expected to stay in London for two weeks, during which he will conduct fundraising for the new large Beis Midrash, destined to be erected in Kiryat Viznitz Bnei Brak. Similarly he will raise money for a new girls' school building.

Over the next two weeks, the Rebbe is expected to travel to the vacation resort town of Haldodna. Thereafter he will visit Manchester, to attend the marriage of the eldest daughter of benefactor Yankie Adler.

Adler's residence has served the Rebbe over the years, even before he rose to the throne of leadership, as a permanent residence, whenever he came to stay in the city.
