Queens, NY: home of Rabbi Salaver, head of Yeshivat Madrega, burnt down. Fire broke out on Thursday night, resulting from a pan of latkes.
According to the chairman of the 'Shomrim, for some reason pan caught fire and the fire spread all over the kitchen. Children slept at the time on the top floor, but volunteers and firefighters were able to retrieve them and remove them from the home. The Rabbi's tefillin - were also removed from the home well in advance.
