Mir Yeshiva presents: 'Dinner' for Hasidic public

The difficult situation of the Mir Yeshiva in Jerusalem led the heads of the Yeshiva to turn to new contact channels: last Sunday the Litvishe yeshiva held a dinner at the Ateres Golda in Boro Park, Brooklyn which was especially designed for the Hasidic public – which came en masse.

Previous to the dinner, the Rosh Yeshiva, Hagaon Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel, held in recent weeks a campaign of visits to the homes of Rebbes - including the brothers of Satmar Rebbes, Bobov Rebbes, Monkatsh, Kassow and more. Likewise he held visits to Hasidic yeshivas, where he gave shiurim and sichos.

The head of the Litvishe yeshiva also came for the first time to a 'Tisch' of a Hasidic Rebbe, when he participated at shalosh seudos of the Rebbe of Skvira last Shabbos. Hagaon Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel sat next to the Rebbe and was mechubad with raising the cup for birkas hamazon.

The purpose of the visits was to recruit the Hasidic public, many of whose sons study at the yeshiva, and Hasidic groups are renowned at the Mir Yeshiva. In the past, before the death of his father Hagaon R' Nosson Zvi zt"l, ,Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel would give lessons to the Hasidic yeshiva boys.

At the dinner held it Boro Park, a speech was given, in live broadcast from Israel, by Hagaon Rabbi Asher Arieli, one of the Roshei Yeshiva. Other speakers were the mashpia Hagaon Rabbi Binyamin Eisenberger, Rav of kehillas 'Heichal Hatfilla' Boro Park, Hagaon Rabbi Chaim Finkel of Mir Yeshiva, and Hagaon Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Sternbuch rosh chaburah of Mir Yeshiva.
