According to local Orthodox activists, recent anti-Semitic wind is blowing through the government. This comes only after a week ago Tanya Longfra candidate of the ruling party in Quebec separatist called to remove the word "Jewish" from the Jewish Hospital in Montreal, and prohibit the practice of circumcision for boys.
Two weeks ago a bill was submitted for approval to ban the wearing of a skullcap or Galbi in public places and, as mentioned, last week the Minister of Agriculture latched on to slaughterhouses, and hardened positions.
Outcry established by Muslim halal meat eaters, Agriculture Minister explained that many complaints recently reached his office from animal welfare organizations and health inspectors who claimed hygiene defects at slaughterhouse were difficult.
Jonathan Callies, responsible for contacts with the government of Quebec on behalf of the Jewish lobby, told Jewish News that the mission statement of the Minister of Agriculture does not refer to the Jewish slaughter intentionally, but some aspects of Muslim slaughter (halal). According to him, the Minister of Agriculture responded to numerous complaints received through the slaughter of animals during Eid Al - Adha last month.
