Terrorists "we murdered officer as gift to Palestinians"

Murderers of Sherya (Yaya) Offer z"l, admitted that the motive for their actions was nationalist - as emerges from the investigation, details of which are now allowed for publication.

Odeh Farid Taleb Charub, 18, and Bashir Ahmad Odeh Charub, 21, residents of the village of Deir Tzamet, in the Hebron area, told the interrogators that they initially planned a robbery. To this purpose they arrived in Rosh Habika about two weeks before the attack to gather information.

But once they realized that it was a senior army officer, who may have a weapon in his possession, they decided to commit murder, as they say, "as a gift to the Palestinian people and Hamas prisoners on the occasion of the Feast of Sacrifice", and to take the weapon, along with other valuables they might find there.

It was also revealed during interrogation that prior to the attack, they began to strengthen their faith, and therefore prayed for success, before coming to the deceased's house and committing the murder.

On the night of the attack, more than a month ago, the two arrived at the residence of the deceased when they are equipped with a pick and ax and waited for the arrival of the deceased and his wife. They then attacked the deceased with a pick and ax, which they brought with them. The victim's wife, who was with him at home, managed to escape from the place.

They therefore escaped for fear of being caught. They fled and threw the weapons on their way, identified later by security forces.

The two considered to cross the border and escape to Jordan, but after changing their mind, they made contact with Abed Muhammad Rabba Shoamra, 27, a resident of Elram, north of Jerusalem, in order for him to flee the from the scene of the attack.

After he picked them up in his car, they told him about the murder they committed, and changed clothes at his home. Abed Raba Shoamra was also arrested for questioning in which he admitted the above said.

Over the next few days the interrogation case will be transferred to the Samaria Prosecution in favor of formulating charges against the detainees.
