Cultural War: extensive budget cuts for Hareidi organizations

Representatives of the hareidi cultural organizations met this morning (Wednesday) with the chairmen of the hareidi factions in the Knesset, Moshe Gafni, Yaakov Litzmann and Aryeh Deri, due to the deep budget cuts in Jewish culture.

The meeting was attended by heads of 'El Hama'ayan','Toda'a', 'Torah veYahadut La'am' and 'Degel Yerushalayim'.

According to representatives of the cultural organizations, Jewish culture budget was cut from NIS 80 million - 12 years ago, down to 16 million only, while the national religious organizations budget received an extra NIS 15 million.

The MKs announced that they intend to meet with the Director of Finance and try to improve the situation. They will also raise the issue of the State Control Committee, and will go out on an uncompromising struggle .

"We will fight them an all out war, it is impossible that they took the whole budget from hareidi organizations and gave it to national religious organizations, there's a culture war here," concluded the Knesset members.
