A week and a half after being reported in B'Chadrei Charedim on the absence of the late Rabbi Lipa Brayer, it turns out that he died.
Recall, on Thursday Parshas Chayei Sarah Rabbi Lipa z"l, who worked as a volunteer for the charity, Shabbos Pekelech, in Williamsburg, went out with a car laden with food for needy families. Since, for two days, he disappeared. Only after forty-eight hours, Brayer was found at a hospital in Queens, fatally wounded, after police found the car parked in a nearby neighborhood.
According to an investigation conducted by the hospital, the deceased was brought to them an hour and a half after leaving the organization's storage car by an ambulance driver who discovered him lying on a sidewalk in Queens when he was seriously injured.
The finding of the police investigation raises shocking data. It turns out that the driver was robbed while standing in one of the nodes in Williamsburg and waited for the light to change. The robber shot him, wounding him severely, and threw him into the back seat. At this point, the robber sat on the driver's seat and continued to gallop to the neighborhood of Queens. Another theft committed there and then took the victim out of the car and threw it on the sidewalk nearby when bleeding. After making the second crime, the robber abandoned the vehicle and fled with the loot.
Despite the treatment Rabbi Lipa received in the hospital, he could not recover from his injuries and died to the dismay of family and community. Police conducting a widespread hunt for the robber, but at this stage it is not clear if there is a clue in her hands and if they will find his tracks.
Rabbi Lipa served up until a few years ago as principal of the Beis Chinuch of Satmar and was in charge of the wedding hall. Four years ago he left his job and since then directed the organization Pat Shacharis which serves breakfast to meshulachim who are staying in Williamsburg. He also volunteered at the Shabbos Pekelch organization which distributes food baskets for Shabbos and was known as a hospitable figure.
