Will RBS change its face? Committee for Planning and Building in Jerusalem announced tonight (Monday) on the decision to entrust public review a plan to build 1,200 housing units in the south - west of Beit Shemesh.
The Committee decided to change the plan submitted, so that it will not only match the Orthodox but the entire population.
Major change is the height of Construction: The plan includes construction of residential towers at 12 floors make it difficult on the Haredim who do not use the elevator Shabbos to buy apartments in the project.
So too the neighborhood is based on a main street with the construction trade, employment, public, education and length of residence, the different nature than that found in Haredi neighborhoods.
The program includes a variety of building types - residential towers at 12 floors up at 8-4 storey buildings, which will include 3-5 rooms' apartments' density of 12 dwelling units per acre.
It also includes a medical center, a gas station, a neighborhood park space and park "Mevo Haaleh."
Total plan area is approximately 1,640 acres and is located south-west neighborhood of Ramat Beit Shemesh in the city. This is one of the six plans that are promoted to RBS Daled.
Last weekend, the regional committee encountered opposition to another building in the city, which includes the construction of thousands of housing units in Beit Shemesh and the Valley of Elah, fearing the destruction of archaeological areas in the region. And the program is not yet approved.
