After crediting: Lieberman sworn as Foreign Minister

Lieberman returns: The Knesset approved tonight (Monday) the appointment of Avigdor Lieberman as foreign minister of Israel after a vote of 62 MKs in favor of the appointment, compared with 17 voting against and one abstained.

Ophir Akonis, Deputy Minister Correlation between the government and the Knesset announced the government's decision and said: " I am pleased to inform the Knesset that the government decided to change the distribution of government, the Prime Minister shall cease to serve as foreign minister."

"The Government also decided by the Prime Minister, to attach MK Avigdor Lieberman as minister added by the government as foreign minister."

Meanwhile, MK Zeev Elkin (Likud) will retire from the post of deputy foreign minister.

Discussion preceding the inauguration, a number of Knesset members expressed their protest of the renewed appointment. The first of the speakers was chairman of Meretz, Zehava Galon, calling Knesset members to vote against the appointment. MK Miki Rosenthal (Avodah) added that "Lieberman wins in court and there are no legal claims into the conduct but there is a huge shadow over his public behavior." He said "millions of shekels flowed from his bank accounts and to explain to the public where this money came from."

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister welcomed Lieberman said, "I'm glad we could in a few hours please and attach Lieberman to cabinet. He was missing there. We have a lot to work on, tests and challenges. It is important to cooperate. I want to congratulate you personally. Welcome back."

After the inaugural, Lieberman was seen as he celebrates accompanied by aides and his family, including Lubavitcher Levi Edrei. Friends came to greet him with the blessing of success, while thanking them for standing by his side throughout the 17 years that have passed on him in shade of legal threats, which turned out as empty threats.
