Two children, aged two and a half Bnei Brak, were hospitalized in serious condition at Schneider Children's Hospital, after suffering fever and bleeding skin. After testing it was revealed that they have the infection of the Meningococcal bacteria. Since hospitalization, the situation improved.

The children, who were together in a private playgroup in the center of Bnei Brak, were hospitalized in isolation for children in intensive care, where they were treated and received aggressive antibiotic treatment.

Due to lack of space in isolation, one of the children was taken to Tel Hashomer hospital, where he was in intensive care in isolation. Hospital staff and their families received preventive treatment.

Condition of the infant who was in Schneider hospital is now set to moderate to severe, and is treated in a stable state. Infant who was transferred to the hospital in Tel Hashomer is in even better condition.

Tel Aviv Health Department staff who arrived at the playgroup, explained to parents the meaning of the disease and ways to prevent it. Medical students assisted children who received preventive vaccines and preventive antibiotics were given also to their families.

It should be emphasized that there is no risk for infection, besides those at the playgroup or who does not live in the same house with one of the hospitalized children. The Ministry of Health continues to monitor the medical condition of the children.

Recall a year ago there was a similar case, two toddlers living in the same residence in Bnei Brak hospitalized at Schneider, having contracted meningitis. 180 nursery children received prophylaxis.

Meningococcal (the flesh eating bacteria) is delivered by spray washing and close contact with the patient or his feces. Those who catch Meningococcal usually contract meningitis or blood infection - the most prominent marks include fever, vomiting, changes in consciousness, subcutaneous hemorrhage, and more.
