Tragedy in the small Jewish community in the village of Raida, Yemen.
12 year old girl fell on Shabbos afternoon in her backyard, she lost consciousness and died a few hours later.
Eliezer Zisha Pepercorn, a Vizhnitz advocate and activist known among the Yemenite community says: "On Motzei Shabbos I got a call from Yemen on the line was Avraham ben Yechiya Yaakov who lives with his family in the village of Raida.
"With a broken voice he told me that his daughter Ayelet the oldest of eight children, fell on Shabbos afternoon in the yard and lost consciousness. Her father took her to the hospital but the situation deteriorated."
Care at the hospitals in Yemen is not among the most advanced. When the father saw that his daughter was dying, he snatched her from the hospital to avoid desecration of the dead.
On Sunday morning, her funeral was held.
"The father said that she was the eldest daughter and cared for her brothers," said Pepercorn. He said that the Jewish community has decreased drastically and situation of the Jews remaining is worsening by the day.
Recently activists managed to persuade some widows to leave Yemen and to emigrate to Israel or the United States.
