Mindy Pollack, 24 -year-old Jewish woman from Montreal, Canada, won last night (Sunday) at the local elections in Claude Rayon, Outremont, after winning the support of the majority of the local haredi public - except the two factions of Satmar.

Thus, Haredi Judaism recorded a victory over Pollack's rival, Pierre Lasarette, a declared anti-Semite who holds a blog where he expresses his extreme views, and acts to delimit the local haredi Jews.

Satmar refused to support Pollack for 'ideological reasons', and ran another haredi candidate named Shlomi Goldstein. However, it was actually a Palestinian woman called Lila Marshi who helped Polak in her race, and has participated with her in neighborhood conferences and community and private events.

Pollack received 35.25 % of the vote which are 860 voters, compared with her anti-Semitic rival who received only 28.36 % of the vote.

In her Twitter page Pollack wrote this morning: "Wow what a night! Thank you voters of Cloud Rayon for your confidence in me. I am so looking forward to working with you."
